Originally intended primarily as an 'ambient guitar' project, 'Lapiz' ended up being more diverse in terms of the instrumentation used.
I intended to feature a 'fluid guitar' style I've been working on (fretless guitar with sustainer) over a Kantele (zither-like instrument from Finland) backing. As the project progressed, I also included exotic clean guitar chords, chinese wind instruments, various zithers and orchestral 'low swells' as well as a myriad of drone textures.

As it turned out, it is a guitar album of sorts, in that all the tracks feature the 'fluid guitar' either as improvised solos / returning melodic figures.

I took a 'slow cooked' approach to this release - working slowly on the project over an extended period of time.
